I just uploaded a slightly tweaked version of this (I changed a '2' to a '1' in one line ). If you have the old version it appears to be possible for sims to get stuck permanently cheering because of an odd little timing/threading issue. This version *should* fix that issue. Thanks to Llial for bringing this one to my attention. If anyone else has issues or bugs to report, please post them here or let me know in some other way.

Hi all!

This was originally posted in R&D, but after a few suggestions to do so, I've moved it to regular downloads.

As an example of the new capabilities provided by the Wes' wonderful new animation tool set, this train set toy contains a brand new animation on the object mesh. The train will drive around the track while sims are playing with it, and the windmill in the center will spin. Sims build fun by playing with it, and cheer enthusiastically while doing so.

If you want to create something like this too, then you need to check out the brilliant new animation tools by Wes_h which you can find here:

It allows you to make animations for sims and jointed objects using Milkshape. It's brilliant fun, and orders of magnitude easier than doing it all manually.

This is a testing download, so please keep that in mind. I don't imagine it will do anything horrible to your game, but we're playing with new techniques here so no guarantees!

You are welcome to clone this object, change it, use it as a base for other projects, copy the code, whatever you want. Just don't claim it in its current form as your own, and if you're planning on redistributing please wait a few weeks in case there are any unforseen bugs I need to fix. The code includes examples of event loops for object animations and sim overlays, which will probably come in handy if you're just starting with non-blocking primitives.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:

1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.

2. Extract: Use WinRAR (Windows) or Stuffit (Mac) to extract the .package file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).

3. Place in Downloads Folder: Cut and paste the .package file(s) into your Downloads folder:
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
  • Windows Vista/7/8: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\

W00t!! I was so annoyed that Maxis left the train set out of sims2 cause my children always had them in sims1. Thanks for this!!! :D

Thank you for your hard work and I loved the set in the first moment I saw it. Kids have so little to play with.

But I got annoyed because the kids who played with it had the animation, laughing and cheering while sitting on the toilette and in there sleep.
I deleted it from the house and the laughing, cheering and animations stoped instandly.

Can you fix that and then a request can you make it joinable. It's big enough to get up to six people around or just that others can watch and gaining funpoints?

Llial - That's odd, the sim overlays should stop when you cancel out of the interaction. Does this happen on all sims or just some? Did you cancel them out of the interaction or did they jump out by themselves?

So far I just let my twin boys play with it and I canceled it out, by both. Both had the same animations and cheering afterwarts.

Thanks Llial! I wasn't able to reproduce the issue myself, but I think I found what was causing it for you. I've uploaded a tweaked version now. If you have a chance to check it out and confirm that it's fixed the problem that'd be brilliant, but if you're not able to that's fine too. Thank you very much for reporting this issue so promptly!

Echo, I will try it as soon I can download it. In the moment the link goes just to "this page can not be displayed".

I know about the trick with the refreshing, but it just won't work now. So I will try it later again.

I got the new updated trainset und it works perfect. Thank you very much for looking into the matter and updating. My Sim kiddies will love you forever. :D
